Sven-Goran Eriksson dismisses Rooney link
Sven-Goran Eriksson has insisted that there is absolutely no truth in his side's pursuit of Wayne Rooney. The 31-year-old has made a below-part start to his season at Manchester United.
Recent reports suggested the England international could pursue a career in the Far East with Shanghai SIPG prepared to offer him a bumper wage contract.
However, Erikkson, now in-charge of Shanghai, has iterated that there are no possibilities of a deal happening given the vast amount of striking options at the club.
Hulk joined the Chinese outfit on a record £45m sum over the summer, whilst the likes of Elkeson and Dario Conca are there to provide sufficient support.
Rooney has been a regular from the substitutes' bench in recent games with Jose Mourinho prepared to offer starts to Juan Mata and Ander Herrera in the number '10' role.
