Mourinho to spend big on Jose Gimenez
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is prepared to cough up a handsome sum to sign Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez. The Uruguayan is frustrated with his current situation under Diego Simeone.
The 21-year-old has been more of a Cup player for Atleti this term with Diego Godin and Stefan Savic being the ideal centre-back partnership in the league.
According to The Mirror, the Special One is desperate to add a new centre-half in January with Eric Bailly sidelined for a couple of months through injury.
Mourinho sees Gimenez as his preferred option to fill the void, but it is yet to be known whether Atleti would be tempted to accept a £50m offer for his signature.
Gimenez has made a couple of notable errors over the past year, and this has seen him being demoted behind Savic for a role in the heart of the defence.
The centre-half has two years left on his existing deal at Vicente Calderon.
