Steven Gerrard transfer unlikely - Benitez
Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez has suggested that his side are unlikely to move for Steven Gerrard in the January transfer window. The former Liverpool captain is a free agent after he left Los Angeles Galaxy earlier this month.
Gerrard, 36, is believed to be eyeing a final challenge in his playing career and this has captured the attention of Inter Milan over the past week.
Benitez was recently questioned over the possibility of bringing Gerrard to St.James Park, and for this, he said: "I think he's a great player and has been one of the best I have ever coached. We haven't talked about [the transfer].
"It would be very difficult because we have a good team and we are doing well. We are not looking for names."
Gerrard had fond memories with Benitez during his time at Liverpool with the Champions League crown in 2005 being the highlight moment.
