Arsenal want Dimitri Payet in January

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is reportedly eyeing a surprise move for Dimitri Payet in the January transfer window. The France international has impressed for West Ham United since his arrival from Marseille last year.
The 29-year-old has captured interest from a whole of elite clubs after a standout season with Slaven Bilic's side which earned him the Hammers' Player of the Season accolade.
Manchester United have been touted as a possible destination for the attacker in recent weeks, but according to The Sun, the Gunners could be the first to lodge an attempt for his services.
Wenger had previously scouted Payet at Lille, and it is believed that he could cough up a hefty sum in order to strengthen his side's challenge for the long-awaited title.
The Hammers are for now reluctant to offload their star, but they could consider the option, should their league form improve before the close of the winter transfer window.
Despite his struggles this season, Payet has managed to provide five assists and two goals for West Ham United in all competitions.
