Leicester pursue Gremio midfielder

Leicester City are prepared to lodge a winter bid for Gremio midfielder Walace Souza Silva. The 21-year-old is seen as a long-term replacement for N'Golo Kante who left for Chelsea in the summer.

Claudio Ranieri's side have struggled in the top flight this season, and many believe that the absence of Kante has haunted the club.

Nampalys Mendy was brought in from Nice to fill the void last summer, but the Frenchman has yet to make a solid impact in the starting line-up.

According to The Sun, the Premier League holders will seek to make a couple of signings in the New Year with Walace being among their prime targets.

Walace, 21, had impressed for Brazil during the 2016 summer Olympics , and it is believed that the Foxes would seek to prise him away from Gremio in January.

Leicester City will table a fee of around £10m to bring the midfielder to the King Power Stadium next month.
