Arsenal to revive Benzema chase?

Benzema back on Gunners radar?

Premier League leaders Arsenal are once again being linked with a summer pursuit for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema. The France international is open to a fresh challenge with Los Blancos on the search for a potential replacement.

According to Spanish source AS, the North London giants are back in line to sign the long-term target with the Frenchman more than willing to leave the Bernabeu in the summer.

The Gunners are currently in a tight situation with regards to the future of Alexis Sanchez, and they could be tempted to offload Chilean in order to recoup funds for a new player.

Alexis has less than 18 months left on his previous deal, and talks over an extension don't seem to exist as the club head to the tail-end of the campaign.

The former Barcelona ace is valued at around £60m, and it is understood that he could be sold out to Atletico Madrid, who are in turn looking for a replacement for Manchester United-bound Antoine Griezmann.

On the other hand, Real are said to rate Benzema at a hefty £52m, and his move to the Emirates could be dependent on whether Arsene Wenger is still the Gunners' head coach in the summer.

Wenger's current deal is due to expire at the end of the season, and many feel this could well be his final term unless the club go on to lift the Champions League - which seems improbable.
