Chelsea target close to contract extension
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed that goalkeeper Craig Gordon is close to inking a fresh contract at Parkhead.
The Scotland international was the subject of multiple bids from Chelsea prior to deadline day with the Blues willing to at least quadruple his current wages of £12,500-a-week.
However, the Hoops managed to keep hold of their shot-stopper for the campaign with the promise of extending his contract on improved terms.
While speaking to reporters, Rodgers confirmed that the former Sunderland man is due to sign a renewed contract, and the deal is '99.9 percent' done as of now.
Gordon had been seen as a potential replacement for Asmir Begovic, who was due to depart for Bournemouth in the winter transfer window.
But, the Blues could not find a suitable backup in time and this eventually forced Begovic to buy his time for the remainder of the season.
Bournemouth are said to have already agreed on a £10m package for Begovic, and the deal will most probably go through in the summer.
