United move one step closer to Lindelof

Manchester United are reported to have finalized personal terms with defender Victor Lindelof, but they could yet face stiff competition from Europe.

The Sweden international was due to link up with the Red Devils earlier last month before the form of Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo urged Jose Mourinho to postpone the agreement.

According to Tutto Mercato, the centre-half has settled a pre-contract agreement with the Old Trafford outfit, and there is still interest among the likes of AS Roma and Pars Saint-Germain.

Both the Giallorossi and Les Parisiens are due to make offers of their own for the talented defender with United yet to conclude a fee for his services.

United are currently sticking with their initial offer of £38m which is still far off from the £50m sum demanded by the Primeira Liga holders.

Lindelof has been impressive for Benfica since his breakthrough spell last term, and his ability to also feature at right-back provides an added dimension to his play.
