Wayne Rooney to miss EFL Cup final
Manchester United star Wayne Rooney could reportedly miss the EFL Cup final against Southampton after he underwent a tooth surgery.
The veteran striker had an operation to rectify his long-standing problem, and this saw him sit out the FA Cup clash against Blackburn Rovers last weekend.
According to The Star, the 31-year-old could miss out on the bench altogether for his side after Jose Mourinho hinted that he is a major doubt.
Mourinho told reporters regarding Rooney's situation: "I don't know about Rooney for Sunday."
Apart from Rooney, the likes of Phil Jones and Michael Carrick could also miss out on the crunch encounter as they are racing to be fit for the final.
Despite a slow start to the campaign, Manchester United remain the only English club who are competing on all four fronts for potential glory.
