Mourinho wants Kroos, Varane at OT

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho wants to secure the services of Real Madrid duo Raphael Varane and Toni Kroos at the end of the current campaign.

The Red Devils blew their chances of moving further up the table after they were held by Bournemouth by a 1-1 scoreline at Old Trafford despite being the Cherries being a man down.

The Sun claims that the Special One has set his sights on raiding on his former club with Varane and Kroos at the hope of his shortlist.

Varane, a France international, was brought to the Bernabeu from Lens back in the summer of 2011 under Mourinho's reign.

The duo have continued to share a good relationship off the field, but it is understood that the Portuguese coach will seek to lure him to Manchester with the promise of regular first-team action, which he appears to receive under Zinedine Zidane at Los Blancos.

Meanwhile, Kroos had been on the United radar during David Moyes' single season between 2013 and 2014, and the club have since been watching the midfielder with a view to a potential transfer.

Kroos committed his future to Los Blancos on a fresh six-year deal last year, and United would have to cough up a fee in excess of £70m for his signature.

Manchester United are currently sixth in the Premier League with 49 points, three points adrift of fourth-placed Liverpool with a game in hand.
