Manchester United are said to be looking to sign a central midfielder this summer to create a partnership with world record signing Paul Pogba. After scouting various options, Sky Sports Italia has reported that Mourinho's men have identified a Roma player to pursue at the end of the season.

Holland player Kevin Strootman is the man who has been identified to play in that role alongside Pogba, who has not had a consistent partner in the centre of the Reds Devils' midfield. With Michael Carrick aging and therefore being available for less games as the busy schedule builds up, Jose Mourinho will be keen to reinforce that position.

Paul Pogba has found it difficult to flourish since his return to Old Trafford, after arriving with huge expectations, due to his £89 million fee. Mourinho is said to be keen on 27 year old Strootman, as he feels his style of play is suitable for playing alongside Pogba.

This is not the first time that Kevin Strootman has been linked with Manchester United, as previous manager Louis Van Gaal also identified him as a target, although no move ever materialised.
