Liverpool boss considering move for BvB ace

Klopp wants Gotze at Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly considering a reunion with Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mario Gotze this summer.

The German international is currently out for an extended period of time due to metabolic disturbances, as reported by BvB.

Gotze was a huge hit during his initial career at BvB under Jurgen Klopp, but he has failed to reach similar heights since his decision to return from Bayern Munich last summer.

The World Cup winner left BvB for the German champions in the summer of 2013 with a view to progressing further at a bigger club.

However, he struggled to establish himself as a regular under then boss Pep Guardiola, who appeared to be reluctant to offer him a regular starting role.

With Carlo Ancelotti replacing Pep at the helm in June 2016, Gotze decided to switch his allegiance to his former club, who were, in turn, looking to reinforce their options after having sold Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Manchester United.

Since then, he has not made much of an impression at Signal Iduna Park, and his uncertain future appears to have captured the attention of Liverpool.

According to Goal.com, Reds boss Klopp is planning to lodge a summer raid for the 24-year-old as he is confident of reviving the player's career at Anfield next season.

The Reds are currently short of options across the length of the pitch, and the need for additional backup is a necessity if they are to challenge in all fronts next season.

Gotze, owing to his injury concerns, has appeared in just 16 outings across all competitions for Borussia Dortmund this season.
