Kasper Schmeichel news

Kasper Schmeichel wanted at United?

Manchester United are planning a surprise move for Leicester City's Kasper Schmeichel as they seek to cash in on the services of goalkeeper David de Gea.

The Denmark international, who is the son of former United great Peter Schmeichel, stepped out of his father's shadows last term, as he guided the Foxes to a historic Premier League triumph.

Kasper has since helped the Foxes qualify for the quarter-finals of the Champions League - the only English club to do so this season, as his penalty saves in either leg proved crucial to his side's 3-2 aggregate win over Sevilla.

According to Don Balon, the Dane could be the subject of interest from the Red Devils this summer as they are still assessing the future of De Gea.

European champions Real Madrid are due to make their move for the Spain international this summer, and United could be tempted to sell, should they receive an offer of around £50m.

Meanwhile, Zinedine Zidane's side also have an eye on Kasper after he impressed during the Foxes' stunning comeback against Sevilla in the two legs.

Kasper has appeared over 225 times for the Premier League holders since arriving from Leeds United in the summer of 2011.
