Manchester City eyeing surprise move for Shaw

Manchester City could be prepared to make a shock raid on Manchester United for the services of left-back Luke Shaw in the summer.

The England international has had a mixed relationship with manager Jose Mourinho this season, and it appears that his recent injury setback could end his Old Trafford career altogether.

Shaw is currently unavailable until the start of the campaign with a cruciate injury, but the Citizens are nevertheless keen on an approach for the full-back, The Sun reports.

The Mancunian giants have not done business with each other in 21 years, and this could probably end any ongoing pursuit with Mourinho unlikely to help boost an arch-rival.

Tottenham Hotspur have also been credited with an interest in the former Southampton star, but a move looks highly unlikely unless the club lose the services of one of Danny Rose or Ben Davies in the summer.

Shaw has earned just 47 appearances for the EFL Cup champions since arriving from the South Coast for a £27m fee in 2014.
