Yaya Toure offered new Man City deal on significant pay cut

Toure could remain at City next term

Manchester City have reportedly proposed a contract extension for midfielder Yaya Toure beyond the current campaign. The Ivorian will have to take a pay cut on his current salary in order to stay put at the Etihad.

The 34-year-old is one among the several Manchester City players who are out of the contract in the summer, but it is understood that Pep Guardiola want him to remain.

Toure initially struggled to make the Citizens lineup this term owing to a spat between Pep and agent Dimitri Seluk, who criticised the manager for mistreating his client.

However, the veteran has since apologised for his representative's comments, and this has seen him became an influential figure since his return in November.

According to The Telegraph, the Citizens are willing to prolong Toure's stay by a further year this summer, but for this, he will have to take a huge pay cut on his  £210,000 a week wages.

Toure's team are almost guaranteed of Champions League football for next season unless they drop points in the remaining two games of the campaign.
