Newcastle United weigh up move for Leicester captain
Newly promoted Newcastle United are exploring the possibility of signing Leicester City captain Wes Morgan, as manager Rafa Benitez looks to add experience to the ranks of the St James' Park squad.
Thirty three year old Morgan captained The Foxes to their shock Premier League success last season, and then to the quarter finals of this season's Champions League. He signed a three year contract last year, but may still leave the King Power Stadium during the next transfer window.
Experienced Rafael Benitez is keen to add experience to his squad, as he looks for a strong return to the top flight, in an attempt to prevent the drop to the Championship again.
Various news outlets are reporting Newcastle's interest in Morgan, who appears to be settled in the Midlands. The deciding factor will potentially be Leicester's activity in the transfer market this summer, as the Jamaican international wants to continue playing regular football. If his current club look to replace him with some younger signings, Morgan may consider moving to the Premier League new boys.
