Philippe Coutinho speaks on his Liverpool future
Brazil international Philippe Coutinho has hinted that he could snub a big club move away from Anfield in order to enter the history books at the Merseyside outfit.
The 24-year-old notched 13 goals and seven assists during the recently concluded Premier League campaign as the Reds managed to qualify for next season's Champions League.
In spite of this, the attacker has been heavily linked with a move to Spanish giants Barcelona with Don Balon suggesting that the Reds could accept a £70m sum for his signature.
Speaking to ESPN Brazil, the former Inter man appeared to express his intention to stay put at Liverpool as a move to a bigger club would hinder his chances of becoming the main man.
"[If you] stay here and they will end up building a statue in your honour. Go somewhere else, to Barcelona, to Bayern Munich, to Real Madrid, and you will be just another player. Here you can be something more," he told ESPN Brazil.
Coutinho, who netted the second goal in the Reds' 3-0 victory over Middlesbrough, was pipped by Sadio Mane to the club's Player of the Year award.
