The veteran Spanish midfielder is believed to have fallen out of favour with new Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde and is seeking a move away from the club with Juventus emerging as the favourites to land him.

Iniesta did not enjoy a good season at the Camp Nou as the midfielder appeared just 37 times, the least he has played in over 13 years at the club.

His limited appearances has largely been due to injuries. The Spaniard injured his calf at the start of the year and within a month of returning, injured his groin, which kept him out of the rest of the season.

According to Spanish news outlet Don Balon, the newly-appointed manager of Barcelona, Ernesto Valverde, is not keen on keeping the 33-year-old at the club and will not go out of his way to stop him should Iniesta choose to leave.

Valverde expressed his desire to implement changes quickly and has already sanctioned the sales of up to nine players at the club, including Arda Turan and Javier Mascherano. While Iniesta's name was not part of that list, Valverde clearly thinks Iniesta is replaceable and as such will not try and keep him.

The report by Don Balon stated that Juventus was put on red alert and are ready to offer Iniesta a contract with an annual salary of €4.5 million with added bonuses along the way.

After seeing the success of former teammate Dani Alves at Juventus as the club reached the Champions League final, Iniesta is poised to join the Brazilian full-back and make the same transition to Turin.
