Frustrated Arsenal striker on West Ham radar
West Ham United are lining up a potential attempt to sign Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud in the current transfer window. The France international struggled to establish himself as a regular starter last season.
Giroud, 30, bagged 16 goals during the previous campaign although he was regularly used from the substitutes' bench.
The former Montpellier man made just 11 league starts for the Gunners last term, but he is unlikely to settle for a similar role following his exploits for France in recent days.
The marksman bagged a brilliant hat-trick in an international friendly win over Paraguay last weekend while he notched a stunning curler against Sweden in a World Cup qualifier, though in a losing cause.
As a result, his interest has intensified in recent weeks with West Ham seemingly weighing up a summer approach for his signature, The Mirror reports.
Slaven Bilic's side largely struggled to find a suitable player to lead the frontline due to injuries, and this has brought Giroud onto their focus following another decent to good season with the north London club.
France have played to Giroud's strengths in the past few years, and he currently holds an impressive tally of 17 goals in his last 17 Les Bleus outings.
