Everton sign Ajax captain
Everton sign Ajax captain

Everton have completed the signing of Ajax captain Davy Klaassen on a five year contract, for a fee of £23.6 million. Klaassen leaves Ajax after six years with the Dutch club.
During his time with the Dutch giants, Klaassen made 163 appearances and scored 49 goals, which helped him pick up three Eredivisie winners medals. The Netherlands international is still only 24-years-old, but has accumulated plenty of experience in his career so far, which will persuade Ronald Koeman that he is ready for the Premier League.
Klaassen almost had a perfect end to his Ajax career, but the team fell short of Europa League glory when they were beaten in the final by Manchester United.
Everton announced the signing of Davy Klaassen shortly after they confirmed that the deal for Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford had also been completed.
Ronald Koeman is expected to continue the spending for the Goodison Park club, as Everton attempt to build a squad that is capable of challenging for a Champions League spot next season.
