Yannick Carrasco lined up as Sanchez replacement
Yannick Carrasco lined up as Sanchez replacement
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has set his sights on a move for Atletico Madrid's Yannick Carrasco, should Alexis Sanchez end his association with the club.
The Belgium international has slotted in well in the wide positions at Atleti, and he is being seen a potential replacement for the Chilean, who is reluctant to extend his deal.
Sanchez has only 12 months left on his present contract, and he is being tracked by Bayern Munich, who also have an eye on Carrasco.
Spanish outlet AS suggests that the Gunners could lodge an approach for Carrasco, should Bayern make Sanchez as their top priority.
Carrasco notched 14 goals and five assists for the La Liga outfit during the recently concluded season, and Atleti could probably turn down advances due to their ongoing transfer ban.
The Madrid-based club failed to have their ban overturned at the Court of Arbitration of Sport earlier this month and this is likely to restrict any activity in the transfer window.
Atleti can negotiate deals with potential recruits this summer, but they cannot register them for first-team duties until the turn of the year.
