Dani Alves strongly hints at Manchester City move
Following news about Dani Alves possibly moving to Manchester City, the Brazilian has added fuel to the speculation by openly talking about his admiration for Pep Guardiola.
Juventus were keen to keep their entire squad for next season and looked set to do that after extending the contract of manager Massimiliano Allegri, getting Paulo Dybala to stay, and permanently signing Juan Cuadrado and Mehdi Benatia.
However, Alves recently talked about his dream of moving to the Premier League before he retires. The 34-year-old even urged teammate Dybala to leave Juventus to take his game to the next level. The lack of commitment from the Brazilian has prompted Allegri to release the player from his contract.
This has alerted many clubs across Europe who are desperate to acquire Alves' services following his impressive performances in the Champions League for the Turin club as they reached the final.
Manchester City were already speculated to be favourites to win the race for the full-back and his recent comments seem to have fuelled that speculation further.
Speaking on Brazilian talk show Conversa com Bial, he was quoted by Football Italia as saying: "Leaving Juve on a free transfer? I don’t know what’s happening. Have I asked to leave? I’ve left the work to my agents, and they’ve said they’d talk to me once they found a resolution."
"City my next team? Well, everyone knows my admiration for Pep Guardiola."
This will surely come as a blow to the likes of AC Milan, PSG and Chelsea, who were all interested in the 34-year-old.
