Arsenal teenager eyeing Benfica move
Arsenal youngster Chris Willock is reportedly discussing terms with Benfica over a potential free transfer to Estadio da Luz next month.
The 19-year-old has failed to break into the Gunners setup over the past year, and he is now eyeing a fresh challenge when his contract expires at the end of June.
According to The Mirror, the teenager sees his future away from the Emirates as he does not believe that he can earn first-team opportunities under Arsene Wenger.
The England Under-19 international has travelled to Lisbon to negotiate contractual terms as he craves for regular first-team football for the 2017/18 campaign.
Willock made just two substitute appearances for the Gunners last season, both of them coming in the club's EFL Cup campaign.
Wenger has been more focused on bringing in foreign recruits instead of dipping into the youth system, and Willock could follow former graduate Benik Afobe into making a move elsewhere.
Afobe was regarded as one of the top prospects in the Gunners' academy before he was allowed to sign for Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2015. He has since joined fellow Premier League Bournemouth, where he is a regular in the starting lineup.
