Fellaini out for a couple of weeks through injury

The Belgium Football Association have confirmed that Marouane Fellaini will be out for at least two weeks after he sustained an injury to his left knee against Bosnia & Herzegovina.

The 29-year-old suffered the injury during the first-half of the World Cup qualifier on Saturday which Belgium won by a 4-3 scoreline at the Grbavica Stadium.

According to Belgium FA's official Twitter account, Fellaini has not suffered any ligament damage as initially predicted, but he will nevertheless be sidelined for at least a fortnight.

"Fellaini out for a couple weeks and #BELCYP. Scan – left knee injury (MCL sprain). Get well soon Marouane!" the tweet read.

Fellaini has been a credible performer alongside Nemanja Matic in recent games, and his absence brings forward a potential headache for Mourinho, who will have only two senior midfielders to rely upon.

Apart from Fellaini, the likes of Paul Pogba and Michael Carrick are also in the physio room, and this leaves Ander Herrera as the probable partner for Matic this weekend.
