Jose Mourinho claims that Manchester United defending properly is seen as a crime

Jose Mourinho's side has started the season in fine form

Jose Mourinho has revealed that he feels his Manchester United side are not receiving enough credit for the way they have defended so far this season.

Since the Premier League campaign kicked off, the Red Devils have conceded just four times in all competitions, with two of the talked about goals coming in the same game, which was in a 2-2 draw in the Premier League away to Stoke City.

The other two strikes which found their way into the United net both came in injury time of two emphatic 4-1 wins against Burton Albion and CSKA Moscow in the Carabao Cup and the UEFA Champions League, respectively.

Mourinho, the man at the helm of the Old Trafford dugout, has revealed he is impressed with his sides efforts so far in the 2017/18 season, he said: "You know, 12 matches (in all competitions) - 10 victories, two draws, nine clean sheets, we are not bad."

But in the light of another clean sheet in a 1-0 victory against Benfica in the Champions League on Wednesday night, leaving United on the brink of qualification for the knockout stages, the 54-year-old boss does not feel their efforts are being appreciated enough.

He said: "I feel that, sometimes, defending properly is seen as a crime, but it it is not."

The red half of Manchester's impressive defensive efforts will be emphasised if they manage to keep a clean sheet away to the newly promoted Huddersfield Town on Saturday, as it will mean a new top-flight record will be set of eight clean sheets in the first nine league fixtures.

However, the Terriers will be eagerly anticipating United's visit as it will be the first time tthat hey have welcomed the 20 time league winners to their stadium since 1971.
