Manchester United to offer Mata, Herrera in deal for Atletico Madrid midfielder?

Manchester United could reportedly offer both Ander Herrera and Juan Mata in a proposed part-exchange deal to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez.

The Red Devils are one of the many clubs interested in the Spain international, who has established himself as a regular under Atleti boss Diego Simeone.

According to Don Balon, United could be prepared to include Herrera and Mata as makeweights to pursue the services of Niguez in the upcoming transfer window.

However, the same source suggests that Simeone has no intention of cashing in on his midfielder, who signed a fresh nine-year deal with the Spanish club in the summer.

Niguez, who has been ever-present in Atleti's La Liga and Champions League games, presently has a £134m release clause on his contract, and Simeone is confident that this will fend off any future interest.

Both Herrera and Mata are contracted to the Red Devils until the summer of 2018, although they have the option of triggering one-year extensions on their respective deals.
