Chelsea plot shock move for Olivier Giroud
Premier League holders Chelsea are rumoured to be planning a shock attempt to sign Arsenal's Olivier Giroud during the winter transfer window.
According to Don Balon, Blues boss Antonio Conte is keen to pursue the France international in the New Year as he looks to add more competition in the centre-forward department.
The likes of Alvaro Morata and Michy Batshuayi have been in the goals for the Blues this term, but Conte is still keen on bolstering his options up front in order to challenge for both domestic and European honours.
Giroud, 31, was heavily tipped to join Everton during the summer transfer window, but he eventually opted against the move as a sign of loyalty to his long-term employers.
The Frenchman is currently contracted to the north London club until 2020, and it could come as a big surprise if the Gunners sell him to a direct league rival midway through a campaign.
Giroud has yet to make a Premier League start for Arsenal this term with compatriot and summer signing Alexandre Lacazette getting the nod to the lead the line.
