Thibaut Courtois: Chelsea face must-win game versus Manchester United

Courtois: Chelsea will go for the win versus United

Chelsea shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois has admitted that the Blues face a must-win game versus Manchester United in order to maintain their title pursuit.

The reigning champions come into the game on the back of a 3-0 Champions League defeat at AS Roma, while United cruised to a 2-0 triumph over Benfica in midweek.

Antonio Conte's side are already nine points adrift of toppers Manchester City in fourth place, and Courtois insists the Blues must beat United in order to stay close to their competitors.

"[Manchester United] is a must-win game," Courtois told reporters on Thursday, as per ESPN. "Manchester City are already nine points ahead of us, Manchester United four and Tottenham Hotspur one.

"We must win games like these to remain at the top and close to the other ones. We will try to get the three points and will give our lives for it on Sunday."

Chelsea's home form this campaign has been indifferent with just two wins in five Premier League games and Conte will hope for a much better performance versus Jose Mourinho's men, who possess the best backline in the division.

N'Golo Kante and Paul Pogba are 50/50 to start for Chelsea and United respectively, and the participation of the pair could have an implication on the eventual result on Sunday.
