Wilshere happy at Arsenal

England international Jack Wilshere has insisted that he is content at Arsenal despite his reduced gametime under Arsene Wenger this season.

The 25-year-old has mostly featured in the club's Europa League and League Cup games this term where he has impressed with his fitness and work rate.

A recent report from The Telegraph suggested that Wilshere could be tempted to join Roy Hodgson's Crystal Palace in January with the former England coach prepared to offer him regular playing time.

However, according to Sky Sports news, the playmaker appears content working under Arsene Wenger, who has assured him of Premier League football as the season goes along.

"I want to be playing for my country. I am a proud Englishman. But it is down to the manager. He didn't select me. He said I need more football," he said.

"I am happy with where I am, playing-wise. I am trying to get into the Premier League team. I've got a great relationship with Arsene Wenger and he's assured me that I will get some playing time."

Wilshere has earned just over 25 minutes of top-flight action this campaign, but he stands a reasonable chance of earning a league start during the festive period where Wenger is likely to rotate his squad.

Granit Xhaka, in particular, has looked average at the heart of the Gunners midfield, and there has been calls from former players including Martin Keown to play Wilshere, who offers more creativity going forward.
