Jones suffered minor injury versus Germany - Southgate

England manager Gareth Southgate has revealed that Phil Jones has not suffered a serious injury during the Three Lions' friendly versus Germany on Friday night.

The Manchester United centre-back started in a three-man backline alongside John Stones and Harry Maguire but was substituted in the 25th minute of the game after he appeared to suffer a hamstring problem.

Jose Mourinho's men have already had their fair share of injury concerns in the early stage of the campaign, but Southgate stressed that Jones could still play a part in the friendly versus Brazil on Tuesday night.

"I thought there were a few shaky moments in the first half. Mainly due to Phil carrying something. He seems fine, we've checked him out. We'll see whether Phil stays with us," he told reporters via Goal.com.

Jones has been ever-present for United in the Premier League this term, featuring in all 12 outings. Owing to his fitness issues, Mourinho has utilised him solely in the league games, thus playing no part in the club's Champions League campaign.

Manchester United have played with three at the back in recent league outings, and any lengthy injury to Jones could tempt the Portuguese to revert to the 4-2-3-1 formation with summer signing Victor Lindelof yet to adapt to the pace of the top-flight.
