Yakubu finally joins Everton
Nigerian international striker Yakubu has joined Everton in a club record £11m transfer from Middlesbrough. David Moyes had been chasing the player for over 1 month and has finally landed the 24 year old. Middlesbrough had originally hiked their price for the striker and Yakubu himself was uncertain of a move to Merseyside.
A Middlesbrough spokesman said: "We can confirm we have agreed a fee for the sale of Yakubu and he has been given permission to talk to Everton."
The player is set to sign a 4 year contract and link up with Everton's main striker Andy Johnson in a very dangerous looking partnership. Yakubu's signing eclipses the previous transfer record of £8m for Andy Johnson's signing from Crystal Palace.
West Ham and Man City were also rumoured to be interested in signing the talented striker, but Everton have won the race.
