Alan Shearer slams Alexis Sanchez for going missing
Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has criticised Alexis Sanchez after failing to justify his worth with Manchester United. The Chile international joined the Red Devils from Arsenal in January in a straight-swap deal involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The 29-year-old has had a tough start to his Old Trafford career with just one goal in his first 10 appearances, and this has led to plenty of criticism from supporters and pundit alike, considering he commands a league-record salary of around £500,000-a-week.
Writing in his column on Coral, Shearer joked that United may have signed an imposter in Sanchez's name, whilst also criticising Jose Mourinho for failing to get the best out of his players.
"They signed Alexis Sanchez and it looks like they have got his twin brother. He looks like the little boy the lost. It is the coach's job to get the best out of the players," he said.
United overcame a shock Champions League defeat to Sevilla in midweek by overcoming Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 in the quarter-final of the FA Cup. Sanchez was an unused substitute during the game.
