Chelsea have reportedly made an early bid for Inter Milan skipper Mauro Icardi as they seek to ward off interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United.

Earlier this month, Icardi's wife and agent Wanda Nara suggested that the striker is open to extending his stay with Inter, but according to AS, the Serie A club may have to deal with a transfer tussle.

Premier League giants Chelsea have reportedly made an opening bid worth £52m for the former Sampdoria man, but this is likely to said to invite interest from Real Madrid.

The European champions have supposedly stalled on transfer discussions for the marksman, but the fear of missing out could reignite their pursuit ahead of the summer transfer window.

Icardi has once again been in fine form for the Nerazzurri with 22 goals in just 24 league games, and this sees them occupying the final Champions League spot ahead of Lazio and arch-rivals AC Milan.
