Can open to joining a 'very big club' next term

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has suggested that he will be playing for 'a very big club next season' as speculation continues over his next club.

The Germany international has been reluctant to prolong his stay with the Reds beyond the summer of 2019, and it appears certain that he may pursue a free transfer away from Anfield.

In an interview with German outlet Bild, Can kept his options open for this summer's transfer window whilst highlighting his ambition to play for an elite European club next term.

"I have the self-confidence to say that my qualities are sufficient to play in a very big club next season," he said. "I'm doing great in England. Here it is is physical and that suits me. The Spanish league is also attractive.

"The same applies to Germany and Italy, which has recently caught up. Therefore, I do not want to exclude anything because I do not know what I will do from summer."

Ex-club Bayern Munich and Juventus have been widely tipped to acquire Can's signature at the end of the season, and the former could be heading the race with general manager Beppe Marotta confirming that the midfielder is on their radar.

Can has been selected by Joachim Loew for the upcoming international friendlies for Germany against Spain and Brazil, but he is a doubt to feature after picking up a back injury in training.
