Mauricio Pochettino to sign new Tottenham contract
Tottenham and club manager Mauricio Pochettino have reportedly agreed terms on a new five-year contract. The Argentinian boss has guided Spurs to their most successful campaign in recent history.
It is understood that Pochettino will put pen to paper on a contract worth a bumper £8.5 million per year, putting him as the fourth highest paid manager in the Premier League after Pep Guardiola, Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho.
Tottenham hope that signing their manager to a new contract will persuade some of the club's top players to stay with the White Hart Lane side and commit their own futures to Spurs.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is known to be a fierce negotiator but when it came to discussions with Pochettino, Levy was under instruction to pay whatever necessary to sign Pochettino down to a fresh contract.
Pochettino's next job will be to help lead Tottenham to a Premier League title, having slipped up in recent seasons despite bringing through a wealth of youth talent.
