Arsenal boss reacts to Aleksandr Golovin speculation

Wenger dismisses Golovin transfer link

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has refused to comment on the club's alleged interest in signing CSKA Moscow midfielder Aleksandr Golovin.

The Russia international has been linked with a move to the Emirates since 2016, but Wenger has remained tight-lipped about the speculation, prior to his side's Europa League quarter-final tie against CSKA.

Speaking in a press conference, Wenger said: "It's not the case at the moment and I don't think it would be appropriate to speak about a CSKA player the day before the game."

Golovin is widely regarded as one of the best talents in the Russian top-flight, and he has notched nine goals in 90 appearances for CSKA. Aside from his club exploits, he has also earned 17 caps for Russia and represented them during their Confederations Cup campaign last summer.

Arsenal have a full-strength squad to choose from, barring Santi Cazorla, and Wenger will hope that the team can gain a sizeable advantage from the first-leg of the Europa League quarter-final - scheduled to be played at the Emirates Stadium tomorrow.
