Real Madrid are reported to have declined the opportunity to sign Paul Pogba from Manchester United during the winter transfer window.

Earlier this month, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola alleged super-agent Mino Raiola to have offered the services of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pogba to him in January, and it now appears that Los Blancos were also communicated.

According to Sports Illustrated, the European champions were offered the chance to pursue Pogba, but they were reluctant to break their wage structure to push through a deal.

Pogba has had an average season by his standards for United, but the Frenchman produced his best showing in the recent derby triumph over Manchester City, where he bagged a match-winning brace.

United appeared destined to lose to City after trailing 2-0 at the break, but they made an astonishing comeback to clinch a 3-2 victory and inflict just a second league defeat of the season to Pep Guardiola's men.
