Arsenal join race for RB Leipzig playmaker

Forsberg wanted by Arsenal

Arsenal have reportedly joined the race to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Emil Forsberg. The Swede is widely expected to leave the Bundesliga this summer after the Leipzig finished a disappointing sixth in the standings.

According to SportExpressen, the north London outfit are said to hold a long-term interest in the Swede and they have already held talks with his representatives regarding a summer move.

It is added that the Gunners are not alone in the player's pursuit and they are expected to face competition from Atletico Madrid and Juventus, who are preparing offers of their own for the playmaker.

Forsberg only signed a new long-term deal with Leipzig in early 2017 but a fee of around £45m is likely to tempt the German club into doing business for the 26-year-old.

The Swede managed just two goals and two assists during the recently-concluded league campaign and this record remains a farcry from the 2016/17 season where he notched eight goals and 22 assists.
