Chelsea join race to sign Gareth Bale this summer

Chelsea have reportedly joined Manchester United in the race to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid during the summer transfer window.

The Wales international has been tipped to leave the Champions League holders this summer after recently admitting that he should have played more under Zinedine Zidane last term.

According to The Express, United are the front runners to pursue Bale from the Bernabeu but they could face added competition from the likes of Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.

Nevertheless, Bale won't come on the cheap with Los Blancos wanting at least £80m for the attacker, who scored twice in the 3-2 Champions League final win over Liverpool.

Bale has yet to confirm whether he would be staying at Los Blancos next season and his representative Jonathan Barnett is due to hold discussions with club president Florentino Perez over his future this week.
