Ramsey offered five-year deal by Arsenal

Wales international Aaron Ramsey has been offered a fresh five-year deal to extend his stay with Arsenal. The 27-year-old's current contract is due to expire at the end of next season.

Ramsey has been in a contract standoff with the Gunners over the past few months but on Tuesday, the Welshman hinted that he is relishing the prospect of working under new boss Unai Emery next season.

According to The Times, the Gunners have known of Emery's desire to build the team around Ramsey and they are prepared to reward the midfielder with a five-year contract on a significant increase on his £100,000-a-week wages.

The north London club are desperate to avoid a similar situation to last term where both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil were allowed to enter the final year of their deals and an extended delay in penning the contract may witness Ramsey being sold this summer.

Ramsey, who was recently named the club's Player of the Year, has notched 59 goals and a further 57 assists in 331 appearances for the Capital outfit across all competitions.
