Zidane decides to leave Real Madrid

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has decided to part ways with the club after guiding them to three straight Champions League titles.

The Frenchman made the announcement in an unscheduled press conference on Thursday where he suggested that the team requires a change to keep on winning.

"The team needs to continue winning and needs a change," he told reporters."First for me, the squad, the club, I think it's a bit of a weird moment but an important one that is good for everyone."

Los Blancos president Florentino Perez has yet to find a suitable successor for the 45-year-old but club legend Guti has been earmarked as one of the leading candidates for the role.

Besides Guti, former Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger and Tottenham Hotspur's Mauricio Pochettino have been highlighted as possible contenders, though the latter only recently signed a long-term contract with Spurs.

Real Madrid became the first club in modern history to secure three back-to-back Champions League crowns but their recent league campaign was not entirely the best as they finished 17 points behind runaway champions Barcelona.
