Joe Allen makes key decision on his Stoke City future
Wales international Joe Allen has reportedly decided to stick with Stoke City despite their relegation from the Premier League.
The former Liverpool man had been widely tipped to leave the Potters following their drop with West Ham United and Newcastle United among the contenders for his signature.
However, according to The Telegraph, the Euro 2016 semi-finalist is content to stay put with the Staffordshire outfit and he is currently in advanced negotiations over a new contract.
The Welshman had initially been in line for a 50 per cent paycut following the Potters demotion from the Premier League but the club are now expected to offer him fresh terms to prolong his stay.
Allen was one of Stoke's standout performers during their relegation campaign and he finished the season with four goals and seven assists from 38 appearances.
The Welshman's current contract is due to expire in the summer of 2021 but he is likely to be offered at least a year's extension on top of a decent wage package.
