Matthijs de Ligt rules out Tottenham move

Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt, who remains a long-term target for Tottenham Hotspur, has reportedly told his agent that he does not want a move to White Hart Lane. The 18-year-old defender has been a revelation at Ajax Amsterdam since forcing his way into the first-team picture at the club and is now valued at close to 30 million euros.
With Tottenham's new stadium seemingly a strain on the club's finances, it appears that Spurs have decided against making a move for De Ligt and will now focus their efforts on finding a cheaper defender that can fill the gap should Toby Alderweireld decide to leave the club.
Spurs were hoping to use their relationship with Ajax to wrap up a transfer deal for Matthijs de Ligt, but this time the defender has indicated that he would be against a transfer to North London. Instead it is understood that Chelsea and Real Madrid are the favourites to lure the Dutchman to their respective clubs and both have already opened talks with Ajax regarding a potential transfer fee.
