Everton looking into deal for Gelson Martins
Everton have reportedly joined the likes of Arsenal in the pursuit of Sporting winger Gelson Martins. The Portugal international has been widely tipped to leave the club on a free this summer following a training ground incident last month.
According to The Telegraph, Martins is likely to follow former teammate Rui Patricio in terminating his Sporting contract this summer and the Toffees are supposedly keen on pursuing his services.
Toffees boss Marco Silva handed Martins his debut whilst he was the Sporting manager and a reunion could be on the cards with the winger having decided to leave his boyhood club.
League rivals Arsenal have also expressed an interest in the Portuguese footballer but strengthening the attack front is not a priority for Unai Emery's side for the moment.
Martins has notched 25 goals in 125 appearances for Sporting to date. He has also earned 18 caps with the Portuguese national side and he is currently with the team at the summer World Cup.
