Sampdoria president confirms Arsenal agreement for Lucas Torreira
Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has basically confirmed that Lucas Torreira will be heading to Arsenal during this summer's transfer window.
The Uruguay international has been on the Gunners radar since the start of the month and a recent report from Sky Sports suggested that the deal is at an advanced stage.
Speaking to TMW, Ferrero has now confirmed that the club have indeed sanctioned the midfielder's exit and the sum gained will go straight into the club's budget for the transfer window.
He said:"Torreira has left for €30m. I bought him from Pescara when nobody believed in him. We took a gamble on him and we won, paying just £2.75m. The money that comes in will be used to capitalise the company."
Torreira has earned comparisons with Chelsea's N'Golo Kante for his tackling and excellent workrate and it will be interesting to see how he fares once he arrives at the Emirates.
The 22-year-old is currently with his national team at the World Cup and he was a late substitute in the 1-0 win over Egypt. He is set to become the club's third signing of the transfer window after the arrivals of Stephan Lichtsteiner and Bernd Leno from Juventus and Bayer Leverkusen respectively.
