Hector Herrera on Gunners radar

Arsenal are said to hold a keen interest in signing Mexican midfielder Hector Herrera after his impressive showing for his country at the World Cup.

The 28-year-old has been one of El Tri's standout performers at the global tournament and this has supposedly earned him links with the likes of AS Roma and Real Madrid.

According to Correio da Manha, the Gunners are said to have joined the player's pursuit despite being close to announcing the signing of Lucas Torreira.

Unai Emery's side are reported to have already reached an agreement to sign the Uruguay international from Sampdoria but the club are still eyeing another midfield recruit with Jack Wilshere deciding to leave the club.

Herrera, who has spent the last five seasons with Porto, could be available for a fee of around £15m this summer with his existing deal due to expire in 12 months' time.

Arsenal have previously been linked with a move for Herrera's compatriot Hirving Lozano but they have not revived their interest since Emery took over the reigns.
