Jorge Sampaoli: Argentina is psychologically strong

Argentina coach, Jorge Sampaoli has praised his side ahead of their round of 16 tie against France on Saturday, describing them as 'psychologically strong'.

Argentina are on the back of a shaky group performance, having qualified courtesy of Marco Rojo's 86th minute winner against Nigeria in their final group game.

Prior to the game against the Super Eagles, Sampaoli's men drew 1-1 with Iceland, and were battered 3-0 by Croatia.

"Argentina is very strong psychologically and this will allow us to face the match with complete commitment. You will see a team which will have a lot of motivation to win," said the Argentina boss, Sky Sports report.

France will be heading to the game on the back of an impressive group performance having collected seven points from group C.

The French boast of a squad that has the likes of Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappé. These are players who can win the game for France and they both have been great so far.

It will be interesting to see the level of influence Lionel Messi will have for the Argentines as he is really eager to perform in what may be his last World Cup for Argentina.

The Barcelona man has not had the best of games so far, but he raised his game a little bit in their final group game against Nigeria.
