Sarri reacts as he is appointed Chelsea boss
Maurizio Sarri has been appointed as the new Chelsea boss, replacing Antonio Conte who was sacked on Friday.
Before the confirmation, Sarri had been linked with the job for weeks with Conte still in charge. He has signed a three-year deal with the London side.
Sarri was Napoli manager last season, leading them to a second place finish in Serie A, while giving Juventus a run for their money.
"I am very happy to be coming to Chelsea and the Premier League. It is an exciting new period in my career," he said, Sky Sports reports.
Sarri also said that he is looking forward to meeting the players and hopes to bring entertainment football to Stamford Bridge.
Despite the fact that Conte was sacked after two years at Chelsea, Sarri still has a difficult job of matching his predecessor's achievement of winning the Premier League and the FA Cup in his first and second season respectively.
As Chelsea prepare for the new season under the former Empoli manager, they will face Inter Milan, Arsenal, and Manchester City in pre-season friendlies.
