Davide Torchia confirms Chelsea's interest in Juventus defender

The representative of Daniele Rugani has confirmed that Chelsea are interested in securing the services of his client during the ongoing transfer window.

The Blues have been widely tipped to acquire the signing of Rugani this summer but so far, they have not managed to negotiate an agreement for the Italy international.

Speaking to Radio Sportiva, Davide Torchia confirmed that Chelsea are in the running for his client though neither the centre-back nor Juventus have expressed an interest in the deal.

"The interest from Chelsea is there for Rugani. Beyond the figures though there's a technical question, neither the player nor Juventus have ever said they want a sale," he said.

Earlier this month, Chelsea witnessed a £36m move knocked back for the Juventus graduate but they are expected to up their offer to £45m with Maurizio Sarri desperate for a reunion with the defender.

Rugani featured for two seasons under Sarri whilst he was at loan with Empoli between 2013 and 2015 and the pair have since spoken fondly about each other in the media.
