Zidane to replace Mourinho at Manchester United?

Manchester United have made Zinedine Zidane their top target if current manager Jose Mourinho leaves the club, the Sun reports.

The France legend left Real Madrid at the end of last season after winning three consecutive UEFA Champions League titles for them.

He is currently without a coaching job and could replace Mourinho who may not lead United beyond the 2018/19 season.

The former Chelsea boss is already giving excuses about the nature of the squad, thereby lowering expectations as he heads into his third season at Old Trafford.

United fans have often complained about Mourinho's defensive tactics in his time with the Red Devils, but expect him to do better next season given the amount of money spent on players since his arrival.

United's Champions League elimination at the hands of Sevilla last season sent the fans into a meltdown because of the defensive manner in which the manager approached the game.

Jose's best season so far at United was the 2016/17 season where he won the Europa League and the FA Cup trophy.
